Capoeira
Capoeira Angola is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that combines music, dance, self-defense, philosophy, history, theater and acrobatic movements. Enslaved Africans brought the roots of Capoeira Angola to Brazil, disguising the martial elements of this artform with music and singing. What truly sets Capoeira apart from other martial arts forms is not the spinning kicks or break-dance-style tumbling, but the intrinsic connection between this unique art form and the music that accompanies it. After the abolition of slavery, Capoeira Angola continued to develop as an instrument of freedom and resistance. Today, Capoeira Angola groups flourish throughout Brazil and around the world.

Although this reconditioning of the self begins on a physical level, it penetrates the soul and as we become more comfortable in our bodies we become more comfortable in our lives."

Shotokan Karate
Dating from the early years of the 20th century,Shotokan karate is a
synthesis of two traditional Okinawan fighting forms. Like any martial art,
its goal is proficiency in combat. However, this goal cannot be separated
from the spiritual orientation of the practitioner. Thus the foundation of
our training method is to look at ourselves strictly and honestly, both from
a technical point of view and as a human being.
