Dynamic Vinyasa Flow Yoga
incorporates a synthesis of breath inspiring movements, with movements enhanced by breath, as taught in the traditional Vinyasa Flow Yoga approach. An emphasis is placed on finding a deeper connection with the dynamic movements of energy available within each pose and each moment. This practice often utilizes ?pulses? within a sequence as a tool to reveal, for example, the expression of apana (grounding energy) in compliment with that of prana (a lifting energy)- or- movements of samana (drawing energy to the core) in combination with those of vyana (radiating from the core outward). This class presents a physical challenge but is available to all levels of practice, as variations are offered throughout.

*Meghan Madhavi Burke has been a student of yoga for 17 years and some of her greatest lessons were learned while studying in India. "For me, a crucial part of yoga is to recognize and observe emotional states that arise during one's practice. As we are able to stay with resistance until it dissolves, we are potentially liberated from that same limitation in our daily life. Although this reconditioning of the self begins on a physical level, it penetrates the soul and as we become more comfortable in our bodies we become more comfortable in our lives."

Movement into Stillness (Yoga)
According to the Yoga Sutras text by the ancient yogi Patanjali, "The cessation of the fluctuations of the mind is Yoga".
In this all-levels yoga practice we work out the kinks of being human through stretching and breathing so that we can prepare the body for stillness. This preparation of the physical body through asanas and the mental body through breathwork allows us to sit more peacefully in silence and stillness. In doing so, we create the opportunity to be more fully present to the infinite wisdom and guidance within. Class involves about 50 minutes of hatha yoga and 10 minutes of meditative silence.

Pilates
Pilates is a method of body conditioning which promotes fitness and health through mindful exercise. Using specific breathing techniques and proper alignment the whole body moves through a flow of exercises, which develop the body's strength and flexibility. Better posture, enhanced energy and awareness, as well as development of "core strength" are realized through this exercise.

Mary Imes has been teaching Pilates for the past 9 years. Having embraced a contemporary approach known as STOTT PILATES that preserves the essence of Joseph Pilates' original "mind-body" teachings, Mary enhances them with modern biomechanical knowledge and input from physical therapists and chiropractors. Unlike the original method, it also incorporates the current concepts of core stability and neutral postural alignment ? restoring the natural curves of the spine ? as integral to developing total fitness. "I teach to share the joy and feeling of well being that I have gained through Pilates. I enjoy seeing clients gain physical awareness, growing from their core to create a stronger, leaner, more aligned body, which allows them to experience life in good health and wellness. My goal is to guide students to a higher understanding of how exercising can improve the quality of their movement and positively affect their quality of your life. I teach in progressive steps, starting with stability and then adding mobility, strength, endurance, coordination and balance. This systematic journey leads to a positive change in one's body, from the inside-out."
